REWARDS FOR STUDYING

I give myself a prize to get motivation. Recently, I cannot focus on studying even though I have exams and a little big assignment to finish. Weather changes every day like a wave and it might make me lazy. I don't want to keep being lazy but want to be productive. Therefore, I decided to get something like clothes, shoes, or stuff for me when I finish heavy studies.

In Japan, there is a season we call "Sickness in May". This is a metaphor for when we become lazy after the start of school or a job. Unlike America, we usually start school or jobs in April and the first month passes quickly. However, in May we get used to new circumstances and get lazy such as getting headaches, or being not productive. This is "Sickness in May". Like this phenomenon, I'm getting lazy nowadays although almost three months have passed since school started. I want to keep productivity and enjoy school life, so I decided to buy something for myself as a prize after I finish heavy assignments or exams. If I found something I want to get, I don't spend money until I do the study. It is my motivation to study now. I realized keeping focused on my study makes me feel down, but having the motivation of getting something encourages me to study.

  1. I reward myself too after finishing a big project with buying food or clothes. It’s great motivation to stop yourself from buying something you really want until you finish an assignment. Having school during the summer would be hard for me. Having to focus on school instead of enjoying the weather sounds like it would be only good for people who are a part of sports.
